For most koi keepers the beginning of the season is marked by starting up the filtration system, feeding the koi and heading out to your favorite koi farm to pick out some new koi for your pond.
Here at the farm the new koi season starts with moving the koi that have spent the winter in the greenhouses back out to the mud ponds where they will spend the next 5 months until our far harvest.
Yesturday, the big girls were the first to head outside. The size ranged from 50-59cm going to one mud pond and 60-69cm going the another mud pond. All the koi that return to the mud ponds were measured and had a photo is taken. We will use this information in Fall when the koi are harvested to see the improvements and growth.
Here are some of the big girls heading to mud!
