Congratualtions to Joyce Spears.

Joyce won Grand Champion at the Mid Atlantic Koi Club’s – 2011 Koi America

Joyce’s Sanke was bred in 2006 by the Nisei Koi Koi Farm. She measured in the show at 82cm(32 inches!)

This is the first American Bred Koi to ever win Koi America.

   ”Joyce has also won the AKCA award for being the first to win Grand Champion with an American Bred Koi.” -Correction, we were just notified that due to the show not having 150 koi entered- this koi does not qualify for the AKCA award..

Congratulation to David & Karen Hardcastle for their win of Grand Champion with their  Gin Rin Kokahku bred by the Nisei Koi Farm at the Rainbow River Young Koi Show

Their Gin Rin Kohaku measured in at the show at 20inches!

Nisei Koi got many wins this weekend. Its been a long weekend for all, so i  will continue the show update in the morning!

Kavent also won Best in Variety with his Long Fin Kin Showa under 40bu - YES, this is the long fin that Kavent got for a STEAL thru the online auction in August! Kavent entered right into a show won with her!!!

Kavent also won Best in Variety over 40bu with a Matsunosuke long fin he purchased for Quality Koi

Congratulation to JOHN for his big wins! This was John’s first time out showing his koi.

John won – Best in Size 7 with is Sanke bred by the Nisei Koi Farm. John won this koi at our silent auction at our 2007 Fall Harvest..another great steal!!

Dave Hicks walked way with Best in Size 8 with his Nisei Koi farm Kohaku over 80cm – His Kohaku measured in at 83cm (32.5 inches!)

Dave also won 1st place in Size 6 Best in Variety with another one of his Nisei Koi Farm Kohaku -68cm

The koi are currently all being photographed. We will be posting both the online and the onsite auction koi here on the blog tomorrow.

To bid in the online auction koi, you  need to be signed up on our website. If you have any problems in doing so, please feel free to contact us before Saturday.

Anyone who has visited our office has seen our walls covered with mud pond calendars, breeding calendars, harvest calender, greenhouse calendars..ect..so i won’t bore you with our farm work we have ahead of us to get us to harvest!

But, in the middle of the farm work, there are some great upcoming customer events and  fall koi shows that Quality Koi Co. will be attending this fall.

August 13th – ONLINE and ONSITE  High Class Koi Auction – 9am-12pm – door open at 8.30am.  Seperate lots of koi will be offered online for those customers who are not able to make it to the farm for our onsite auction.

September 9-11 - Mat will be bring a selection of high class koi to the ZNA Potomac Koi show in Virginia

September 23-25 - Mat will have a LARGE booth of high class koi, many sizes- at the MAKC 22nd Annual Koi Show – Maryland

September 30- Oct 3rd - Nisei Koi Farm - MAIN EVENT HARVEST!!

Main Event Harvest is the one weekend each year we invite all our customers to come out to the farm and see our oler koi being harvested from our mud ponds. The mud pond pull will start at 9am each morning. The koi will be brought to the front of the farm and placed in holding tanks, where Mat will take Q&A about the newly harvested koi. The koi then will be moved into the greenhouses where they will spend the winter.

Sunday October 2nd – Acre Pond

Monday October 3rd – Pond 25

We will be contacting everyone who has koi staying in our mud ponds to let you know when which day your koi will be harvested.
