Last week we brought in a large excuvator and dump truck prepare the site for the new greenhouse.
A few different things are occuring at once. The large top soil pile in front of the farm (collection spot of topsoil from when the mudponds were made) has to be moved and restock piled for later use.
The gound on which the greenhouse is to sit has to be brought up to grade with the areas of the farm that we have raised over the year, to control run off water.
This site aswell is the last place that the natural clay on the property runs.
Mat plans to reshape the “oval pond” which is located in the front of the farm, while he mines out the clay in the area. The dirt he will be moving to get to the clay will be used to bring the greenhouse site up to grade. The clay will be stock piled to prepare any damage mud ponds, leaving a some clay, that will form our new “oval” pond…
